How To Use Call Features

Call Waiting

Call Waiting alerts you of an incoming call when you are already on the phone. You can answer the second call while putting your first call on hold.


To use the service:

1) When using the phone, an incoming call will be signaled by a stutter tone.
2) Press the flash-hook button to place your first call on hold while you receive the second call.
3) To switch back between callers, simply press the flash-hook button.
4) If you hang up while a call is still on hold, you will receive a ringback reminding you to reconnect the call.

Caller ID / Calling Name and Number Delivery

This service displays the name and number of the incoming caller on phones with a Caller Display screen or Caller Display unit.

To activate service:

Press *65

To deactivate service:

Press *85

Information may not be displayed for all incoming calls (e.g., International Calls, Withheld Numbers, etc.)

Anonymous Call Rejection

This service blocks calls from incoming parties who have chosen to block their identity. This does not include private, unlisted, or numbers outside of the calling area.

To activate service:

Press *77

To deactivate service:

Press *87

This service works with Caller ID service.

Call Forwarding

This feature allows you to forward all incoming calls to a 3rd party telephone number such as your work number or your mobile phone.

To activate the service:

1) Press *72 followed by the number to forward to.
2) The switch will make an outbound courtesy call to the number. If the call is answered (by a human or an answering device), call forwarding will be activated immediately.
3) If the courtesy call is not answered, hang up the phone and immediately repeat steps 1 and 2. This will confirm the number you wish to forward calls to, and call forwarding will be activated.

To deactivate service:

Press *73

Remote Access Call Forwarding

This feature allows a Call Forwarding subscriber to access and change his/her call forwarding configuration from any phone.

To activate service:

1) Call the Remote Access Call Forwarding directory number at 571-333-6666.
2) Enter your own directory number (i.e., home number) and PIN when prompted.
3) Configure the Call Forwarding service as normal. (See Call Forwarding)

Voice Mailbox

When you cannot answer the phone, callers will hear your personal greeting and will then be prompted to leave a message. Messages are stored in your voice mailbox until you retrieve them from any touch tone phone.

To access Voice Mailbox from your home phone:

Press *15 and follow the instructions.

To access Voice Mailbox from an outside line:

Dial the Voice Mail Access Number (571) 333-MAIL (6245) or (571) 333-6999 (either works).

OR

1. Dial your home phone number.
2. When the voicemail server picks up, press *

Main Menu Options

Press 1 to listen to new messages
Press 2 to change folder
Press 3 to access advanced options
Press 0 to access mailbox options
Press * for help
Press # to exit

Play Message Options

Press 3 to access advanced options
Press 5 to repeat the current message
Press 6 to listen to next message
Press 7 to delete current message
Press 8 to forward to another user
Press 9 to save the current message
Press * for help
Press # to exit

First Time Users:
Follow the access instructions from your home phone to set up the mailbox, passcode, greeting and name.

Press 0 and then 1 to record your unavailable message
Press 0 and then 2 to record your busy message
Press 0 then 3 to record your mailbox name
Press 0 then 4 to record your greeting
Press 0 then 5 to change your password
Press * to return to main menu

Distinctive Ring / Teen Service

With this service, you may have up to three additional phone numbers for the same phone line, and each number is assigned a unique ring. Note: Outgoing calls are made from the primary phone number only.

An OpenBand customer service representative must assist you with service configuration.

3-Way Calling

This service allows you to conference in two different calls, local or long distance, creating a three-way conversation.

To activate the service:

1) During an active call, press the flash-hook button.
2) Dial the third party?s phone number.
3) When third party answers, press the flash-hook button again to connect all three parties.
4) If the third party does not answer, press the flash-hook button twice to rejoin the original call. If you hang up, you will receive a ringback reminding you that the original call is still on hold.

Home Intercom Service

This service allows those with multiple customer premises extensions on their phone line to call other extensions or transfer an incoming call between extensions.

To use Home Intercom Service:

1) Pick up an extension and dial your home telephone number.
2) When you hear the busy tone, hang up.
3) All extensions will start ringing. Do no answer, but wait for the other extension to pick up.
4) When the other extension picks up, the extensions will stop ringing. Pick up your extension and you will be connected to the other party.
5) If no one answers on another extension, the extensions will stop ringing after a timeout period. If you then pick up your extension, you will then hear a normal dial tone.

To transfer incoming calls with Home Intercom Service:

1) While you are on the call to be transferred, press flash-hook and hang up.
2) All extensions will start ringing. Do not answer, but wait for the other extension to pick up.
3) When the other extension picks up, the extensions stop ringing. The other party is connected to the transferred call.
4) If no one answers on another extension, the extensions will stop ringing after a timeout period. The caller will be cut off. If you then pick up your extension, you will hear the normal dial tone.

Priority Call

Priority Call alerts you to incoming calls from specific list of numbers by using a distinctive ring or a distinctive Call Waiting tone.

To activate service:

Press *61 or *81 (either works) to access the configuration menu.

Phone numbers can be entered in ten-digit format but not in 1+10 digit format.

Repeat Dialing / Automatic Callback

This service allows you to redial the last outgoing call.

To activate service:

Press *66 to redial the last outgoing call.

To deactivate service:

Press *86 to cancel all callback attempts.

Call Block / Selective Call Rejection

This service allows you to choose numbers to automatically reject.

To activate/deactivate the service:

Press *60 or *80 (either works) to access the configuration menu.

Phone numbers can be entered in ten-digit format but not in 1+10 digit format.

Telemarketing Block

Incoming calls from unknown or private numbers will receive a message stating, "You have called a number which does not accept calls from telemarketers. All other callers may press "1" to complete call."

Telemarketers who complete call are in violation of FCC rules and are subject to prosecution. Calls from known and public numbers (i.e., can be displayed on Caller ID) will not be blocked.

To activate the service:

Press *78

To deactivate service:

Press *79

This service works with Caller ID.

Speed Dialing

This service allows one-digit (2-9) or two-digit (20-49) codes to be used as shortcuts for selected phone numbers.

To configure the service:

Press *74 to configure one-digit Speed Dial numbers.

Press *75 to configure two-digit Speed Dial numbers.

To use the service:

1) Pick up the receiver and dial the desired one-digit or two-digit code.
2) Press #.
3) The previously configured phone number will be dialed.

Return Call / Automatic Recall (*69)

When you can't make it to the phone in time, Return Call service tells you the number of the last incoming caller. Return Call will then dial the number back, if you choose.

To use the service:

1) Press *69 to hear the last caller's number.
2) To then return the call, press 1

To cancel the service:

Press *89
